The trails starts near the Grizdale Visitor Centre. It has a tarmac surface throughout with one gradient along the path at 10% (1:10) for 20m but then there are no slopes steeper than 8% (1:12) though there are occasional cross gradients as steeps as 4% (1:25).There are nine opportunities to rest and use the various different seats provided along the trail but they are not evenly distributed along the route.
