Auchnacraig

Description

A pleasant walk through mixed woodland with Scots pines and meadows. Mostly flat with a reasonable surface which can get a little muddy in places after wet weather. There are pleasant views to the Kilpatrick hills and over the cityscape of Glasgow. One of the best times of year for this walk is springtime as there are many hundreds of daffodils which grow wild as well as wild orchids and rhododendrons. There are a number of opportunities to extend the walk (all of which would involve slightly rougher and steeper paths). A woodland walk diversion passes a small waterfall and pools then follows a burn to a wetland area with a wildlife pond and raised boardwalk which is in a state of disrepair.
