Route Filmstrip & Description

The trail starts near Rosebank roundabout where the A9 meets Camelon Road the A803. It starts on the opposite of Camelon Road from Rosebank Distillery.The surface of the path is firm throughout but uneven in many places.The route is wide enough for two people to walk side by side.The trail is level except for a few short gradients by locks with the steepest being 14% (1 in 7) for about 15m.The end of the trail is at the car park adjacent to the marina and Carron Sea Lock from where a leads through the West Mains Industrial Estate which is close to Junction 6 of the M9

Join the canal by a path with some loose stones and a gradient of 12% (1 in 8) for 5m.

Keep the canal on your right and go up a short rise with a 10% (1 in 10) gradient.

The trail now follows the footway to the left which runs beside the A9 for 400m or so.You can take the path to the right but there are two flights of stairs the take you up onto the footway to cross the railway bridge that blocks the tow path.(see map and photographs)

Approaching the Graham Road (B902) bridge keep left to cross the bridge at the traffic lights.The path to the left follow the canal under Graham Road but there is a flight of steps.
