This walk is just over 4 miles (6.7km) long and starts at Townsend Farm in Brampton Abbotts, which is just outside Ross-on-Wye. Parking is available at the farm but there isn't a wheelchair accessible toilet. A standard toilet is located in the 'honesty farm shop' for this who are able to use it. There are also hot drinks available in the self-service shop. The route ambles through this sustainable farm's landscape and along the River Wye. The route can get very muddy alongside the river, especially after rainfall and flooding. The worst of this can be avoided by taking the alternative footpath away from the river and connecting into the dismantled railway.
