Yorkshire Wolds Way Access Walk, Huggate

Description

Several dry valleys are a feature of this route, which also offers a feel of spaciousness on the wide open field tops. A strong wind however may make these tops feel several degrees cooler and in days gone by Huggate was often cut off by snowdrifts in the heart of winter. Huggate itself is the highest village on the Wolds at 170 metres. It also has one of the deepest wells in England at 106 metres deep, which once served the village and the local pub, The Wolds Inn.
